Camping River is a small and quiet campsite with about 40 pitches, beautifully located by the fast-flowing Ubaye River at an altitude of 935 meters. This charming campsite offers everything you need for a relaxing family vacation in nature: a cozy bar with a terrace, fresh bread and croissants daily on order, and a restaurant where you can enjoy pizzas and snacks from 5:00 PM. For water lovers, there is a separate swimming and play pond, as well as a small, heated outdoor pool. Children can have fun in the playground with a sandbox. The campsite is the perfect base for nature, sports, and water enthusiasts, with plenty of activities such as rafting, mountain hiking, mountain biking, trout fishing, and more. Just 10 minutes away, you will find the lively town of Barcelonnette with its Mexican history, cozy terraces, restaurants, and boutiques.

Camping River, located in the beautiful Ubaye Valley at the edge of the Mercantour National Park, is an ideal base for active families. The impressive nature around the campsite, with rugged mountains, clear rivers, and forests, invites all kinds of adventures. For families who love sports and action, there are plenty of opportunities: hiking, cycling, climbing, and water sports are all options. Looking for more challenges? There are also activities such as canyoning, rafting, and even paragliding.
Just a 10-minute drive away is Barcelonnette, a charming town with a Mexican history. Here you can enjoy cozy terraces, nice restaurants, and shops. The town offers three large supermarkets, perfect for your daily groceries.
Camping River also provides access to the Transubayenne VTT route, a challenging 80 km mountain biking route. The surroundings are surrounded by seven impressive mountain passes, ideal for cyclists and hikers.

It leads you through the beautiful Southeastern Alps. From Utrecht, the travel distance is about 1,150 km, which means a journey time of about 11.5 hours, depending on traffic and the route you choose.
This area has a lovely Mediterranean climate with around 300 days of sunshine a year. Due to its altitude, it is almost never too hot during the day, and the river provides a cooling breeze. In the mountains, however, it can cool down to 10-15 degrees in the evening and at night. So make sure you have plenty of warm clothes with you.
